VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT

IGLESIA MONTE VISTA / FEED THE NEED is dedicated to meeting the needs of our community. We exist to serve God, our community, and our church through distribution of food to families and individuals in need while demonstrating God's love.

Health- Volunteers should refrain from volunteering if they are feeling unwell. Additionally, volunteers who handle food must not participate if they have any open or infected wounds or sores. If a volunteer is displaying symptoms of any illness, we kindly request that they leave and return when they are free of symptoms. These measures are in place to protect both our volunteers and those we serve.

Accommodations- If you have specific needs or requirements, please let us know so we can work together to find the best solution for everyone involved.

Scheduling- To ensure we are prepared for your assistance, please coordinate your availability with our volunteer coordinator or fill out the online form that is sent out weekly. If you need to cancel unexpectedly due to illness or other circumstances, we kindly request that you inform the volunteer coordinator.

Anti-Theft- Respect and trust are foundational to our community. Therefore, any form of theft is strictly prohibited. If a volunteer is suspected or found stealing, immediate dismissal will follow. This policy ensures a safe and respectful environment for all volunteers and guests alike.

Drug and Tobacco Free- To maintain a safe and respectful environment, volunteers are not permitted to use, possess, or be under the influence of illegal drugs, controlled substances, alcohol, or marijuana while on/in the distribution sites. Additionally, tobacco products, including chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes, are prohibited at distribution sites.

Conduct- At our core, Feed the Need is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to creating a loving, accepting, respectful environment for our volunteers and guests. We believe in treating everyone with dignity and kindness. Our strength lies in our ability to work together as a team, supporting one another and our mission.We have zero tolerance for sexual harassment, violence, harassment, or offensive speech from anyone. If you experience or witness any such behavior, please report it immediately to a staff member or site leader.

While serving our guests, we ask that you refrain from excessive use of cell phones or other distractions. Our distribution is most effective when we are positive, relational, intentional, present and aware of the needs around us.
Some of our volunteers have needs for food for themselves. Volunteers are welcome to go through the food distribution line as a guest. If you choose to volunteer during the distribution and still need food, we have specific guidelines for your food collection. We ask that these guidelines be followed to ensure fairness for our volunteers and guests.

Sexual Harassment: Iglesia Monte Vista is committed to providing a safe environment for all its volunteers free from discrimination on any ground and from harassment including sexual harassment. Iglessia Monte Vista will operate a zero tolerance policy for any form on these matters. We will treat all incidents seriously and promptly investigate all allegations. Any person found in violation will face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

All complaints will be taken seriously and treated with respect and in confidence.

Volunteers please be informed:

First offense, volunteers will be given a verbal warning and or asked to leave.
Second offense, volunteers will be given a written warning and asked to leave.
Third offense, volunteers will be dismissed permanently.

We reserve the right to ask a volunteer to leave if:

Volunteers do not follow instructions given by staff or by site leaders.
Volunteers act in a disrespectful or inappropriate manner.
Volunteers are suspected of theft.
Volunteers are suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
